WHO CAN HAVE A PROMINENT EAR OPERATION?
Anyone who is wider than the ear size of the cartilage area called the auricle and who is uncomfortable with this situation can easily have it done.
Since otoplasty operation is a congenital condition, people can be faced with this problem at a young age.
Although there are experts who recommend waiting until the age of 18 for the operation to be performed, no problems were encountered in people who underwent the procedure at the age of 5-6.
The procedure is not sensitive enough to require waiting for such an age limit.
HOW IS OTOPLASTY OPERATION PERFORMED?
The application is performed under general anaesthesia in young people and under local anaesthesia in adults. A small incision is made in the back part of the ear, called the auricle, and excess skin is removed and harmonised with the general size of the ear.
A small number of stitches are applied to the incision and a bandage is applied. The bandage is renewed for 2-3 weeks. Stitches are removed after 10 days. The procedure takes 1-2 hours in total.
During the healing process, it is necessary not to sleep on a high pillow and avoid movements that will involuntarily bend the ear.
